The theme of the 2019 event is ‘home’, reflecting how LGBTQI+ sports clubs are families where everyone is welcome to feel safe, secure and warm. The event aims to grow the health and happiness of LGBTQI+ people by offering an inclusive environment that encourages greater participation in sport.

Athletes of all abilities are invited to participate in this fun, social event.

The Festival has expanded on its 2018 program with more sports on offer including roller derby, tennis, touch rugby, AFL 9s, water polo, netball, volleyball and hockey.

Players and spectators can also enjoy a fun day out featuring a drag show, food trucks, a pop-up ‘tea house’, mini-games and live commentary by some of Perth’s best Drag Queens.

As a Major Partner of the 2019 Festival, Healthway will promote the Think Mental Health message, focusing on sport as a vehicle to raise awareness and encourage conversations
around mental health within the LGBTQI+ community.

Simon Thuijs, Pride Sports Festival founder and Strategy Director is pleased to see the event becoming a feature on the Perth LGBTQI+ calendar.

“I’m proud Perth is the home of Pride Sports Festival. We’re working hard with our partners to ensure the 2019 event is better than ever. To be growing this fast in our second year is really exciting.”

Perth Pride Sports Festival will be held on 23 November 2019 at the UWA Sports Park.
