The new album, which is a conceptual patchwork about greyness, will be released in two parts — the first part due digitally in February of 2020, with the second part, as well as the physical album, due May 15th. It expands upon the sonic universe built in Sumney’s critically-acclaimed debut LP Aromanticism and subsequent EP Black In Deep Red, which came out in 2014.

The  Virile video marks Sumney’s directorial debut and he shares the ideas behind the clip.

“In a post-human world, the last remaining man is caught between Beauty and Brutality’s battle to dominate the earth and his body.” he said.

The album includes collaborations with a diverse array of contributors and is Sumney’s first work to be written in his new home of Asheville, North Carolina.

Watch the video for ‘Virile’ below.

The artwork for the album features Sumney lying naked over a rock below a waterfall. The project includes 20 new tunes from the musician,

Part 1 will include Insula, Cut Me, In Bloom, Virile, Conveyor, boxes, Gagarin, jill/jack, Colouour, also also also and and and, Neither/Nor and Polly.
