Revelation Perth International Film FestivalYou only turn 10 once. For 2007, Revelation announces the BIGGEST program yet, bursting with the best features, documentaries, shorts and showcases the world has to offer; as well as Q&A sessions with a stack of guests from Australia and overseas, and a cutting edge Screen Conference that’s bigger than Texas!

At double the size, the 2007 program includes 29 features, 27 documentary features and 20 shorts gleaned from 12 countries; Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, South Africa, USA, France, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Israel and Iceland. It boasts 31 Australian premieres, 6 World premieres and a kids program and retrospective on legend anime director, Osamu Tezuka.

Three major international shorts showcases feature: Best of British Animation – BAA 06, brand new UK Music Videos from the British Council, and for the very first time in Australia, Wholphin! The world’s most amazing short film showcase premieres with never-before-seen films packaged specially for Rev, featuring work by filmmakers Stephen Soderbergh, Dennis Hopper, David O. Russell, Spike Jonze, Errol Morris, Alexander Payne and more…

Highlights include:

  • Meet the filmmaker screenings with American documentary maker Tray White (Impaler); directors Kriv Stenders (Boxing Day) and Philip Brophy (Body Melt), Burke & Wills; codirectors and co-stars Oliver Torr and Matthew Zeremis; cinematographer Toby Ralph (Streetsweeper); and Wholphin’s founder, curator and editor, Brent Hoff (USA)
  • The Rev Club micro-cinema mix of screenings, live performance, filmmaker discussions, gallery space and late-licensed bar
  • A specially curated Indigenous Showcase featuring West Australian communities
  • Get Your Shorts On! A line-up of short films all 100% made in WA, with filmmaker Q&As
  • Glorious super 8 with Revel-8 and, Sydney’s d/Lux/MediaArts’ The Super 8 Effect
  • Opening and closing night parties, art exhibitions, late show screenings, and a DIY filmmaking book launch with Rachael Lucus (Bondi Tsunami)

Revelation Perth International Film Festival will take place July 12-22, 2007 with screenings and events at Luna Leederville, Luna SX and The Bakery.
