Acceptance Street: New York City renames Gay Street for Pride Month

A historic street in the West Village of Manhattan has been renamed with some fabulous new signage for Pride Month.

The New York City Commission on Human Rights have renamed Gay Street, near the Stonewall Inn, with a special installation called Acceptance Street.

The multi-coloured signpost now features Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Nonbinary, Pansexual, Two Spirit and + streets along with the original Gay Street sign.

The street just happened to have coincidentally been named Gay Street, but its proximity to the Stonewall Inn have made it a landmark to the local queer community.
