A Disappearing Act
A Disappearing Act is on at The Blue Room until May 21. This fresh tragic-comedy is a tale of mice, men, lovers, guns and glitter. Four characters search for the answers to their heart’s questions and ask the big important questions, like who is the wisest of the modern day poets, Elvis or George Michael? This show is from the same team who created last year’s popular production The Bearskinner. If you’ve never been to the Blue Room its worth checking out, arrive early grab a drink in the bar and order one of their famous toasted cheese sandwiches. www.pacs.org.au

Zhao Qing
At the Perth Centre for Photography Zhao Qing documents the first 12 days of the earthquake rescue in China’s Sichuan province. The work highlights the impact of the tragedy on ordinary citizens and the dramatic rescue efforts undertaken by the Chinese Army, medical teams and volunteers in response to the earthquake. Zhao continues the work with a poignant portrayal of the lives of people affected by the tragedy in the months and years after the event as they overcome adversity and start their lives again. Opens on May 15.

Passenger List
Interactive web artists Nicola Kaye and Stephen Terry have just finished an interlinked residency at Scotland’s McLean Museum and Art Gallery and the WA Maritime Museum. …From the Passenger List is their new work that literally immerses the audience the work, a truly displacing experience that allows you to become part of seafaring history. The opening at the Fremantle Arts Centre on Friday May 20 at 6:30pm and continues through to Sunday July 17.

The Lost Thing
Take in some great short films at Future Shorts, including Shaun Tan’s Oscar winning short animation The Lost Thing at Future Shorts. Also on the program is local short The Fax Paper. Swedish short film Incident at the Bank is a detailed and humourous account of a failed bank robbery that is filmed in a single shot and feature 96 performers and six other short films. Local musician Rabbit Island provides the music. You’ve got two chances to see this program either Wednesday 18 or Thursday 19 in The Velvet Lounge at The Flying Scotsman in Mount Lawley. www.futureshorts.com
