Renowned artist Brent Harris is exhibiting a collection of new oil paintings and drawings entitled Head at the Lister Gallery in Subiaco until December 21. Harris’ head paintings utilise ambiguous, though anthromorphic, flat fields of colour dissected by wavering lines that are evidence of the centrality of drawing to the execution of his finished work. Unsettlingly, the images are reminiscent of cartoon figures, yet they are also somehow reminiscent of erotic folds of flesh.
