Just before a milestone birthday, Michael Jarosky stood in front of a mirror and decided that the SOFA (shirt over fat arse) move wasn’t working any more and he needed to make serious changes to his lifestyle. With the help of psychologist and personal trainer Annie Clark, he formulated a plan based on a ‘simple’ and ‘fresh’ approach to both food and exercise. I love the chapter “How Did I Get This Way” which lists all the excuses to remaining a couch potato.

Jarosky chronicles his forty day stint to change his life and health whilst Clark writes a psychological commentary of the ups and numerous downs of his struggle. Regardless of your gender, this very real journey like Super Size Me in reverse, is both informative and inspirational. Jarosky refocuses on ‘happy’ and ‘healthy’ and saves $1360 that he would have spent on alcohol in the forty days. The book comes with a contract to follow and a food/exercise outline for forty days – that’s just over a month. Go on – become a caveman for forty days and transform your life.
