You Staying Young
Dr Michael Roizen and Dr Mehmet Oz
Harper Collins  ★ ★ ★ ★

As the old saying goes, youth is wasted on the young. We tend to grow older, sicker and sadder as the years advance by such small amounts that we fail to register that we are losing (or abandoning) the things we took for granted in our youth. You Staying Young is an owner’s manual for “adding serious years to your life – and life to your years”. It challenges our perceptions of aging and looks at the defenses we can build in our first five decades against things that may occur in later life.

Log onto www.realage.com and do the test for your real age, as opposed to your chronological age. You do need your height and weight in inches and pounds, your blood pressure and resting heart rate. Though the test is a bit of a gimmick, it still gave me a jolt to find out that my real age was 5 years older than my last birthday indicated. Drs Roizen and Oz maintain that aging may be inevitable but the rate of aging is negotiable. Their book is a step-by-step guide to effectively lowering your real age, with pages of easy to follow strategies to extend your warranty.
