Casey Donovan is Big, Beautiful & Sexy

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Casey Donovan, but the former Australian Idol singer is back with a brand new single, Big, Beautiful & Sexy.

‘It’s based on life experiences I’ve had throughout my life,’ Donovan told OUTinPerth of her new song. ‘It’s quite an empowering song.’

‘It’s been a good five years in between singles. It’s great to get back out there and have it done my way and with my actual own songs.’

The new single is a message of confidence, the curvaceous singer said.

‘The message I’m promoting is self-confidence in all sizes, not just the bigger sizes but the smaller sizes, because a lot of women and a lot of men have issues with their bodies and with their weight.

‘I’ve struggled with being a bigger girl all my life and I just thought now’s the time to release this song and to make it known and (for people to) be proud of who they are and get that confidence boost up because the one thing that keeps a lot of people down is negativity and there’s negativity everywhere you look.

‘There’s a lot of pressure, and writing this song has opened up a lot of people’s eyes.’

Donovan hit national fame as the youngest winner of Australian Idol in 2004 at the age of 16.

She has since gone on to release numerous songs, but most recently garnered attention for her role in The Sapphires, for which she took out the Best Supporting Actress Award at South Korea’s 4th Deagu International Musical Festival Awards.

Now she’s all set to take on Australia with her Big, Beautiful & Sexy Tour. So has the recent award gone to Donovan’s head, making her a diva?

‘I don’t think I could ever be a diva because I don’t have the strength inside of me to kind of boss people around. I’m usually one to do it myself or help other people out but I’m not a diva in that sense.

‘But once I go on stage I love doing a power ballad. Stage diva craft I’d call it.’

Big, Beautiful & Sexy will be released on iTunes this August. For full tour details go to www.caseydonovan.com.au
