City of Vincent to Introduce LGBT Inclusive Register

By the end of the year the City of Vincent will have introduced a relationship register that will be inclusive of the LGBT Community.

Straight, gay and lesbian couples will be allowed to officially register their relationship; doing so will act as more evidence towards the existence of that relationship for those who need it.

Cr John Carey for the South Ward of the City of Vincent discussed how the register will act as ‘symbolic for gay aspirations in the community’, with the inclusivity taking one more small step towards equality.

Although the register will be available for everyone, Carey expressed that it may not be for everybody, and that registering is voluntary – ‘there are varying views on marriage, civil unions… It will benefit those who choose to use it’.

A meeting that will kick-start the introduction will take place on the 25th of September.
