Do you gamble? Do you identify as LGBTIQ+?

Researchers at the Deakin University are looking into gambling behaviour of people who identify as LGBTIQ+. While there’s a lot of research about the general populations behaviour, specific research about the queer community is less developed.

Rachel Bush, Research Fellow and PhD Candidate at Deakin University’s Faculty of Health is working with Associate Professors Petra Staiger and Nicki Dowling, in partnership with Dr Andrea Waling from the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University to find out more.

Bush hopes people who read OUTinPerth will be able to contribute to the research.

“We want to know about your experiences with gambling and in particular, in situations where you sometimes gamble more than you intend or like to.

“If you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, non-binary, gender fluid, or any other diverse sexual and/or gender identity, are a resident of Australia, and aged 18 or over, you are invited to join this study.” Bush said.
