The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos… sound familiar? These names are synomous with Eric Clapton – a God to some (fans), a sinner to others (law) – has just released a compilation of his work that spans nearly four decades. At 62, this Grammy Award winner serves us on a golden plate such timeless gems as Presence of the Lord; Tears in Heaven; Ride the River; White Room and Layla. This double CD is a fusion of blues, rock and psychedelia and is the ideal gift for your Christmas stocking. His preferred nickname is ‘slowhand’ but that is not evident on his amazing guitar solos, which feature quite prominently on this album. Singer, songwriter, icon and survivor… this is the soundtrack of his journey.
