Dan Gillespie Sells, the lead singer of British band The Feeling and writer of the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, has married the show’s original star, John McCrea.
The pair tied the knot last week at Hackney Town Hall, surrounded by friends and family. Among those wishing the couple well were The Feeling guitarist Richard Jones and his wife, pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Jones posted photos of the celebrations on Instagram, including a clip of Ellis-Bextor performing her hit Murder on the Dancefloor at the reception.

The Feeling have released seven albums during their career, but Sells stepped into the world of musical theatre when he wrote the music for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
The musical is inspired by the story of teenage drag performer Jamie Campbell. In the show, he is represented by the fictional character Jamie New, who confronts homophobia and gender expectations during his final year of high school.
The production debuted in Sheffield in early 2017 before transferring to London’s West End later that year. It enjoyed a successful London run, toured the UK, and played a season in Los Angeles. The musical has also been staged in South Korea and was adapted into a feature film.
McCrea originated the role of Jamie New. The production later featured a number of well-known performers, including Layton Williams, Katy Brand, Michelle Visage, Roy Haylock, better known as Bianca Del Rio, Faye Tozer, and Shobna Gulati.
After leaving the production, McCrea went on to star in Cabaret and the New York production of Prince Faggot. He also appeared in the Disney movie Cruella and the British television series We Hunt Together.
