(M) Directed by Simon Curtis

Aspiring filmmaker Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) was just was 23 years old in 1956 when he got a gofer job on set of The Prince and the Showgirl, directed by Laurence Olivier (played here by Kenneth Branagh). His first task was to find suitable accommodation for the film’s star Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) and her husband Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott) near London’s Pinewood Studios, but it was not long before Marilyn was asking especially for him. Clark wrote about his experiences on the six-month shoot in The Prince, The Showgirl and Me but his account left out one week. Years later, he revealed why and My Week With Marilyn details his more intimate adventures with the intriguing film star after her husband returned to America. Michelle Williams excels as the insecure yet alluring Monroe in this whimsical film that recreates scenes from original The Prince and the Showgirl using the same soundstage.
