Jordan may have appeared like an overnight sensation but it’s taken her a few years to get to this point. In 2006 the singer from South Carolina was eliminated from the semi-final of the first season of America’s Got Talent. After that Alexis’s family moved to Atlanta to help her break into the music business. Now with the help of production duo Stargate, Alexa Jordan’s debut album has been released.

What was it like performing at the Sydney Mardi Gras?
Performing at the Sydney Mardi Gras was such a cool experience the show went incredible plus the crowd was loud. Such a great combination.

Happiness has become an immediate gay anthem, why do you think the song appeals to gay men so much?
I think the song appeals to gay men so much because it’s a feel good song.

The production teams behind your debut album a great track record, was it intimidating to work with producers like Stargate?
No, it wasn’t intimidating to work with Stargate. It was actually easy; we all love music and when we get in the studio it is magic.

You were knocked out of America’s Got Talent, how did you deal with that disappointment?
Dealing with the disappointment was rough at first but then got easy because I had my family supporting me 100%

What brings you happiness?
What bring me happiness is my family and music!
