Prosecutors could call hundreds of witnesses in Beau Lamarre-Condon murder trial

Prosecutors could call hundreds of witnesses to give testimony in the trial into the alleged double murder of Jesse Baird and his partner Luke Davies.

Former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon will face trial for the alleged murder of both men when the case finally reaches the courts this September. The 30-year-old had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Lamarre-Condon appeared via a video link for a court appearance on Wednesday where he only spoke to confirm he could hear Justice Natalie Adams clearly.

The court heard that the prosecution witness list could be between 200-300 people, but prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC said the actual number of people taking to the stand would more likely be around 100. The trial is expected to run for up to three months.

The defence team told the court they are still waiting to receive evidence from telecommunications experts, crime scene reconstructions and jail call transcripts.

Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have shot television presenter Jesse Baird and his boyfriend Luke Davies at Baird’s Paddington home in February 2024.

Police have alleged that the 29-year-old broke into television producer Jesse Baird’s Paddington home and shot Baird and his boyfriend Luke Davies with his police issued hand gun.

Police have alleged that Lamarre-Condon hid the two men’s bodies in the back garden of the home before returning later to move them to a rural location. Lamarre-Condon and Baird briefly dated before his relationship with Davies.

Prior to joining the police force in 2019 Lamarre-Condon ran a celebrity focused blog and he used to track down celebrities and get photographed with them. He was fired by the Police Commissioner after the murder charges were laid.

The case will return to court on 29 May.
