‘Halves’ is not a word Trent Reznor knows or does. Take, for example, this epically sprawling three CD soundtrack set for the remake of the foreign cult classic The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. From the instant kick of Karen O’s call to arms via Robert Plant’s Immigrant Song, these tracks combine atmospheric cinema with minimally constrained orchestral arrangements. These instrumental tracks are stark, intelligent and emotive. Each one holds back, but deliciously so. Indulge in genius this summer.
