Grey’s Anatomy has been on air for 15 seasons but this year is the first time the show has included a gay romance among its storylines.
The new season has just aired in the USA and it featured a same-sex kiss between Dr Kim and Dr Levi Schmitt.
Jake Borelli, who plays Dr Schmitt on the show, took to Instagram to share his excitement about the episode and revealed that he himself is gay.
“As a gay guy myself, tonight’s episode was so special to me. This is exactly the kind of story I craved as a young gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that I’m able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season on Grey’s Anatomy.” Borelli shared with his followers.
Borelli also had a message for people who were struggling with their sexuality.
“To all of you who feel like little Levis out there, know that I do too, that you are seen, and that we’re all in this together.” he said.
Prior to joining Grey’s Anatomy Borelli appeared in the Nickelodeon series The Thundermans.
