Subiaco is one of Perth most sought after residential addresses, and even fixer uppers in the inner city suburb comes with a price tag of over a million dollars.

This four bedroom house that’s currently for sale comes with some extra rock n roll history, it was used in the video for local band Jebediah’s debut single Jerks of Attention.

The band’s debut single was released in 1996 and had its official launch at the Grosvenor Hotel in East Perth on 5th December. (OUTinPerth editor Graeme Watson was at the launch). A slower version of the song was included on the band’s debut album Slightly Odway the following year.

Back when the video was shared the house was the residence of lead singer Kevin Mitchell. It was his first address after “leaving home” and was the inspiration for another of the band’s biggest hits. Alongside being the lead singer of Jebediah, Mitchell has also had a successful career recording as Bob Evans.

Photographer Nick Cowie, who was a regularly captured the band’s early gigs, appears in the video chained to the laundry sink.

Many elements of the house are visible in the video, from the distinctive blue and yellow tiled kitchen, to the back patio and laundry. Thankfully it looks as if the 70’s retro wallpaper has been removed at some point.

The house is currently on the market for $1.1 million, and looks like it’s crying out for a tasteful renovation to bring it into the 21st century, but just a short walk from Kings Park and Subiaco’s cafe culture – it’s certainly scoring for location.

It’s been a few years since Jebediah out out a new record, but you can catch bass player Vanessa Thornton – who is also a member of Axe Girl and The Tommyhawks – in a Fringe World production StyxThe show opens on January 26th.,
