Iggy Azalea Makes Australian Music History

Iggy Azalea

Rapper Iggy Azalea has made Australian music history when she hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Fancy’, featuring Charli XCX.

This makes her the first Australian woman to top the chart in 33 years. The last Aussie lady to do so was Olivia Newton John in 1981 with the classic ‘Physical”.

Iggy Azalea joins The Beatles as being the only acts to simultaneously take the 1# and 2# spots.

She also joins Lil’ Kim, Lauryn Hill and Shawna as the only four solo female rap artists to take the title of number one.

Check out the Clueless-inspired video for ‘Fancy’ below. We featured it in our Hip Hop Style Inspiration Playlist for Swagger, which obviously contributed at least partially to its success.
