Last month the Indian High Commission put up a statement on their website that looks like gay couples and others who are unable to bear children will find it increasingly difficult to access surrogacy services based in India. The notice advised that those seeking surrogacy services must travel on a visa specifying their travel purpose, and prove that any children born through the use of a surrogate would be legally able to travel their new home country. The variations between state surrogacy laws and federal immigration laws in Australia may make providing such proof difficult.
