Queer country trio The Cowgays have teamed up with RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Kylie Sonique Love for their new tune.
The Cowgays comprise Brooke Eden, Chris Housman and Adam Mac. We’ve previously featured Housman’s country tunes but this new project is somewhat of a gay country supergroup.
The three longtime friends decided to form their new band a few years ago when they were on a shared holiday to Mexico.
They released their debut earlier this year. They described I Wish I Wasn’t Gay as a “gospel bluegrass hymn for the queers”.
All three members of the band have had impressive careers to date.
Brooke Eden has performed on NBC’s Today Show, the ACM Awards, and the Grand Ole Opry, where she gender-flipped She’s in Love with the Boy alongside Trisha Yearwood. Adam Mac has put out three solo albums, performed on The Kelly Clarkson Show and had a breakout hit with the tune Disco Cowboy. While Chris Housman’s debut album Blueneck hit No. 1 on the iTunes Country chart.
Keep up to date with The Cowgays via their website, and draw on them for inspiration when Perth’s annual Barn Dance rolls around.
