Joan as Police Woman to play The Sewing Room in October

US musician, singer-songwriter and producer Joan Wasser, known by her stage name Joan As Police Woman, will make a special, one off appearance in Perth at The Sewing Room on Thursday October 17.

Wasser began her career playing violin with the Dambuilders and subsequently played with Black Beetle, Antony and the Johnsons and Those Bastard Souls before morphing into the hard-working, globe-trotting, Joan As Police Woman.

Since the release of her classic debut Real Life in 2006 Joan’s sound has naturally evolved through six studio albums, hundreds of collaborations and over a thousand live concert performances.

She has collaborated and performed with a host of incredible artists including Lou Reed, Damon Albarn, Meshell Ndegeocello, David Sylvian and Rufus Wainwright.

For this rare series of shows around Australia, Joan As Police Woman strips her sound down to its true essence, performing her songbook solo on piano and guitar.

Joan has been getting rave reviews for her recent performances in the UK where she’s delivered a selection of her most loved songs alongside a few unexpected cover versions.  The tour coincides with the launch of her new, 3-disc Joanthology album.

The Sewing Room show will run from 8pm to late on Thursday, October 17 with tickets via Moshtix.
