The album is at its best when it strikes a balance between the band’s hardcore rock ‘n roll sound and its soft lyrical underbelly. When the band finds its groove, such as on opening track ‘Knocked Up’, the songs feel like old favourites, but on lesser tracks, most notably the screeching ‘Charmer’, the harsh musical arrangements drown out the lyrics and lose the plot. The ending tracks redeem the album’s muddled middle and are a near perfect blend of blues vocals and rock music.
