The more you know: 7 questions about penis augmentation

Injectable dermal fillers is a procedure that’s growing in popularity, allowing men to add a little more girth to their manhood.

Unlike surgical options, this procedure can be completed in an hour and has a short recovery time. It’s something you could get done on a long lunch break.

Dr Jayson Oates answers the questions most of us want to ask about Calibre’s penis augmentation procedure.

Will people be able to tell if you’ve had it done?

The whole idea is to make it natural and undetectable. Somebody might notice a change if they’ve seen the before and after, but most people can’t tell by looking or feeling.

How much bigger will it be?

Well that depends on how much you put in, and how big you were to start. Most guys will get around an inch in circumference when flaccid. When you have an erection, it stretches out a bit, and you gain about half an inch. It’s not designed to create length, but guys find that because it’s heavier, and hanging out further, they get less shrinkage.

How long does it last for?

The guys who first had this procedure are now getting to the two-year stage and they haven’t had a lot of loss of volume. You get the occasional guy, especially professional athletes where we find that hyaluronic acid breaks down more quickly. In those cases, we’re trialling some new products to see if they last longer.

Will my penis still work the same?

The whole idea is that it looks normal, it feels normal, and it functions totally normal. It’s just bigger.

Does it hurt to have the procedure?

It’s amazing how numb we can get it just with local anaesthetic cream.

It varies from guy to guy, everyone has a different pain threshold some have a few little twinges, but the vast majority of guys at the end of the procedure say, ‘Wow, that was a lot better than what I was expecting.’

Does it make a difference if you’re circumcised or uncircumcised?

Technically it’s a bit easier to do on guys who are uncircumcised, but most younger guys are uncut, it doesn’t make a huge difference.

How popular has this procedure been?

Since we first began offering this procedure there’s been a gradual uptake. The challenge is most people haven’t heard about it, and everybody knows that all the stuff you see on the internet about making your penis bigger is all just scams. Slowly more people are learning that this a real medical procedure that does make a significant difference.
