Fun and games were afoot at the Earthwise building in Subiaco last month when the Freedom Centre hosted its latest sleepover retreat for under 26’s.
Freedom Centre Coordinator, Dani Wright, says the retreat has been well received and supported since it began as a part of Pride Month last year and is now held approximately every three months, during school holidays.
The Earthwise centre was transformed into a slumber-party, with sleeping bags and mattresses creating a cosy feel, an area dedicated to Wii, Playstation and DVDs and crafts such as t-shirt screen printing and a mural project in another area.
A small fee paid by the participants covers the cost of the venue and meals, with lunch, dinner and breakfast being cooked in the well equipped kitchen.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHo) the Freedom Centre is running a photography project called Faces For Freedom, in which it is asking participants to take a photo of themselves holding a sign that makes a statement about anti-homophobia and human rights.
The photographs will be used as a formal submission in support of Australia implementing a Human Rights Act.
