Let's Thursday Like We Friday

Thursday gets a bad rap. Nestled between hump day and the beginning of the weekend, Thursday is often overlooked for the prime night out on the town it can be.

If you’re someone who is looking for new things to do, the city is overflowing with superb places to go for a bite, a drink and reinvigorating entertainment.

We’ve scoped out some of the best places to make the most of your Thursday and start your weekend early.

BEST LOCATION

PicaBar

Attached to the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, PicaBar is nestled in the heart of the cultural centre. This month on Thursdays they’ve got some great burger and booze specials. Peruse the exhibitions at PICA and the Art Gallery of Western Australia, catch a play at the Blue Room Theatre, take some time out at the State Library and take in all the happenings of the everchanging hub before taking a load off at PicaBar.

BEST ACTIVITIES

Holey Moley

One of Northbridge’s newer additions is one of the area’s most unique venues. Get your pop culture fix with a full 27 hole mini-golf course loaded with homages to your favourite shows from The Simpsons to Game of Thrones. Get your posse together and battle it out on the mini-greens before slicing onto the dancefloor for your favourite 90’s/00’s tunes. Walk-in on Thursdays for a $10 9-hole special then head to the Caddyshack for $10 cocktail offers, and order one of their great stone baked pizzas!

BEST SMALL BITES

Baby Mammoth

William St favourite Baby Mammoth are known for their unique decor and unconventional eats. Every Thursday, the team take on tacos with their signature flair and each week a new taco is born from their imagination and local produce, served on hand-pressed tortillas. $6 tacos wouldn’t be complete without $6 beer and wine specials to round out your Taco Thursday.

BEST PLACE FOR A CELEBRATION

KU DE TA

This cool restaurant on the banks of the Swan River has a sensational menu and the setting envelopes you in a cocoon of stylish surroundings. The food is excellent and this month on Thursday nights they’ve got a special on jugs of sangria.

BEST STEAK SPECIAL

The Court

The Court is looking better than ever with its new upstairs venue Verdict and their newly renovated beer garden. You might know the venue for the glittering queens and pop-fuelled dance floors; but let it be known The Court does a mean steak! Tuck in to a $15 steak and drink special. You can even test your knowledge at their Thursday trivia night and steak out some prizes.

BEST GIN AND TONIC

Frisk

Not all Gin and Tonics are the same. Drop by Frisk on a Thursday and order a sample of citrus, sweet and savory options. Of all the gin joints in town this is the one to wander into.

BEST PLACE FOR AN INTIMATE GOSSIP

The Flour Factory

Need to catch up with your BFF and download all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Grab a seat at The Flour Factory, order a few drinks and a selection from the tapas menu. On Thursdays this month they’re offering a divine cupcake infused with pink gin.

BEST SPOT FOR A FIRST DATE

The Comedy Lounge

Perth’s new comedy venue has comedians on stage at 6pm, making it the perfect straight after work casual date choice that will put you in a good mood, and leave space to continue onto dinner and drinks. On Thursdays they have a $10 Happy Hour.

MOST FABULOUS

Connections Nightclub

Of course, there is nowhere more fabulous than Connections Nightclub on a Thursday night. Get the party started with a round of Bingay, then POP! all night long with camp hits on the dance floor with Perth’s best drag queens calling the numbers, serving behind the bar and on the stage! You can even get yourself a little taste with their decadent menu of drag-inspired cocktails.
