LGBTIQA+ community member Pippa joins ‘The Floor’ on Channel Nine

Tune into the new series of The Floor on Channel Nine and you might see a familiar face. Local community member Pippa, better known as drag star Prism, is one of the new contestants.

The Roger Corser hosted series is back for a second season. The show features 81 contestants who are all specialists in different subject areas. The players all stand on a giant floor that lights up, each player occupies an equal space on the grid.

The contestants are pitted against each other if they knock out another player they gain their territory on the floor. The battle is a 45 second contest of identifying images or cryptic clues and naming the specific item featured.

Pippa joins the cast and her expert category will be Kylie Minogue’s lyrics.

Among the other contestants is Olympian Steven Bradbury with the category of winter sports, former MasterChef contestant Hayden whose all about seafood, while Finance Manager Tony who also hails from Western Australia has picked currency codes as his specialty.

Makeup artist Sinead also hails from Western Australia and has nominated iconic movie lines as her subject. Marketing Manager Tasch has nominated natural sounds, school teacher Shane is full of knowledge about villains, and Lisa is an expert in plane tails – she does work in an airport.

One to look out for might be Megan from New South Wales, her category is collective nouns, she’s a Dictionary Editor by profession. Mike from the Northern Territory has picked songs about people as his topic, while retired nurse Maureen is full bottle on disco.

Symbols, antipodean PMs, cricket, podcasters, cheese, video games, rhyming slang, fish, slogans and many other topics will be up for battle.

The Floor returns to screens on Sunday, April 19, at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now and continues Monday at 7.30pm.
