Featuring West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO), Guy Nobel returns to the stage to conduct the orchestra and chorus through the best of movie scores and classics alike. Highlights include Puccini’s Turandot, Strauss’ Dies Fledermaus, and the soundtrack to Star Wars, plus much, much more.

The night will kick off with pre-concert activities beginning at 5pm, including face painting, balloon artistry, and live jazz. Food vans will be at the venue, but you are also invited to picnic on the river as the sun sets on Langley park.

There will be solo performances by violinists Laurence Jackson and Zac Rountree on the night, as well as the renowned tenor Paul O’Neill. The concert will follow the tradition of concluding with the explosive 1812 Overture, accompanied by an ever-escalating pyrotechnics display.

“[It’s] a uniquely Western Australian event,” says Lotterywest Chairman Heather Zampatti. “With Perth CBD acting as the backdrop to the incredible sounds of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, it’s an evening set to be enjoyed by all.”

Additional public transport to and from the event will be provided, including the Transperth ferries operating on a summer timetable. Concert-goers are encouraged to plan their journey beforehand.

Can’t make it to Langley Park? Thanks to Lotterywest, this event will be broadcast in a number of locations throughout Western Australia. Screens in Albany, Kalgoorlie, Margret River, Northbridge Piazza and the Perth Cultural Centre will all show the concert live, so you don’t miss the action. On top of this, the concert will be broadcast via the Westlink VAST Channel 602, and a livestream will be available here, or using the livestream app. Wherever you are, settle into the good food, the summer ambience, and of course, the phenomenal music.
