A proposition for a Sydney style Mardi Gras in Mandurah has caused heated debate among locals. In December last year, city counsellors voted eight to three to investigate the possibility of holding such an event, but Mandurah Mayor Paddi Creevey has played down any talk that idea will be given the green light. “It should be understood that there is no resolution to proceed with a Mardi Gras, only a direction to the Chief Executive Officer to consider this as part of a review of the City’s festivals and events program,’ he said.
