Paws for a Cause – The RSPCA will hold its annual Million Paws Walk fundraiser on May 18 on the foreshore at the corner of Coode St and Mill Point Rd. This furry festival raises funds for the RSPCA and helps them shelter and care for 138,000 animals a year. In addition to the walk, there will be live entertainment, food, exhibitions and heaps of pet products on sale. Feast Your Eyes – Adelaide’s lesbian and gay cultural festival, Feast has announced ‘diverseCITY’ as its theme for 2008. For those hoping to celebrate diverseCITY, event registrations open on May 23. The event line-up will be announced on September 26, and the festival will take over Adelaide from November 15-30. Visit www.feast.org.au for details.

Sorry Day 08 – Following the huge gay and lesbian turnout at Sorry Day last year, Queers 4 Reconciliation invites members of the gay and lesbian community to come out in support of reconciliation again at Sorry Day 2008. There will be speeches from members of the Stolen Generation as well as a Sea of Hands, community stalls and a BBQ. Sorry Day takes place from noon-2pm on Monday, May 26 at Wellington Square. Let the healing begin.

Cultural Gold Mine – The Cultural Studies Association of Australasia is holding its 2008 National Conference in Kalgoorlie. The conference aims to explore political, cultural and economic change and impact on the future and includes notable guest speakers, such as Judith Halberstam. Submissions for panels and refereed papers are now open. Panel Proposals are due June 30 and Refereed Paper Proposals, August 15. Interested parties can email proposals to l.brennan@curtin.edu.au.

Freedom on the Net – Freedom Centre (WA) has a new website – www.freedom.org.au! The new site has info sheets, FC services and creative, fun content for young people by young people. With portals for professionals, students, parents, family and friends on the way, the site promises to be a great resource for the community.

King Becomes Mistress – Claire King has been named the new Choir Mistress for GALSWA. Claire is looking to bring more musician input to GALSWA’s sound and is giving lessons in theory from 6.30-7pm on Thursdays, just before rehearsals. From Where I Sit – Linguistically and culturally diverse GLBTQI people can share their experience of sexuality during Diveristy Week, May 12-16, at the Diverse Perspectives on Queer Lifestyles Forum at the University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus. The forum will take place on May 13 at 6pm.
