Milk! Records share new remix project

Naarm record label Milk! Records have revealed the second instalment of their forthcoming remix album out Friday, 12th May. New Zealand’s Tiny Ruins get the re-work treatment from Naarm-based producer, DJ, Corey Kikos. Full of dark, grimy synths, the result is a hard-hitting club adaptation of Holograms.

Milk! Records Remixed Vol 1 is a celebration of the label’s 10-year anniversary and will be its first compilation filled with  Milk!’s most beloved songs, crafted into something fresh by a collection of their favourite Australian musicians, artists and producers.

Conceptualised during last year’s 10 Year Birthday celebrations, the album reflects on the last decade of the award-winning queer and queer-friendly label, that has fostered, and continues to nurture an incredible community within the independent Australian music scene.

Featured on the LP are iconic tracks from Courtney Barnett, Jen Cloher and Jade Imagine recreated by the likes of Stella Mozgawa, Marcus Whale, Banoffee, The Merindas, Tim Shiel, Simona Castricum, Mindy Meng Wang 王萌, Geryon, Seja, Various Asses, Corey Kikos, California Girls, Snowy and Rebel Yell.

Founded in 2012 to release Courtney Barnett’s first EP I’ve Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris, the label has since championed and released over 60 titles in the last decade, supporting local independent artists as well as internationally established acts.

Milk!’s current roster includes Australian artists Courtney Barnett, Jen Cloher, Dyson Stringer Cloher, Hachiku, Liz Stringer, The Finks, Jade Imagine, Mess Esque, Loose Tooth, and East Brunswick All Girls Choir as well as international artists Sleater-Kinney, Chastity Belt, Hand Habits, Tiny Ruins and Bachelor.
