A new advertising campaign for marriage equality has been launched across Australia.

The advertisement released this morning will air on Channel 7,9 and 10 and Foxtel and shows everyday Australians calling for the government to take action and change the nation’s marriage laws.

The commercial features the tune ‘Lanterns’ by Perth band Birds of Tokyo.

Australian Marriage Equality (AME) and Australians 4 Equality (A4E) teamed up to make the new commercial once they were confident that the government’s plan for a plebiscite was not going to go ahead.

Website news.com.au was given exclusive access to the filming of the TV spot and interviewed many of the people included.

The campaign features the logo of Australia that was first revealed in the Say ‘I Do’ Down Under’ campaign that has been spearheaded by actor Joshua Sasse and his fiance Kylie Minogue.

Since being launched last month many celebrities have added their names to the campaign including Natalie Imbruglia, Dolly Parton and Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters.
