Nicholas Galitzine is looking buff in new ‘Masters of the Universe’ trailer

Actor Nicholas Galitzine has transformed himself into He-Man for the upcoming Masters of the Universe film which arrives this June.

A new trailer for the blockbuster film has just arrived, and it shows more of the upcoming film which hopes to revive the ’80s toy franchise.

The franchise originally made its debut in the 80s, as an action-figure line from Mattel. Later spawning comic books, He-Man was brought to life through animation in the iconic series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

(l-r): Roboto (Kristen Wiig), Man At Arms (Idris Elba), Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), Teela (Camila Mendes) and Cringer in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE.

Nicholas Galitzine, who previously starred in the gay rom-com Red, White and Royal Blue and television series Mary & George, takes on the lead role.

The film follows Price Adam (Galitzine) on his journey to embracing his true identity as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. To take on the part Galatzine has clearly spent a lot of time at the gym.

The new take on the 80s toy range stars will be directed Travis Knight and boasts Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, Jared Leto and Idris Elba in its cast. Kristen Wiig is also featured as the voice of Roboto.

It’s not the first time that Masters of the Universe has been brought to the big screen. An 80s adaption was a complete flop.

The 1987 film stared Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, and also featured a young Courtney Cox who would go on to find global fame as Monica in Friends. The film also featured Star Trek actor Robert Duncan McNeill, years before he became a crew members of Star Trek Voyager.

The new take on Masters of the Universe will be in cinemas of 4 June.
