National Ovarian Cancer Awareness (NOCA) Week begins on Sunday February 8th. The aim of NOCA is to not only inform but also educate women across Australia on the signs, symptoms, risks and preventions of ovarian cancer.
It is estimated that over 1500 Australian women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Seventy five percent of these women will unfortunately be diagnosed as having ovarian cancer in an advanced stage and will not survive the 5 year cancer bench mark. While the early detection screening processes for ovarian cancer are not as straight forward as those for other forms of cancer such as breast cancer, it does contribute to significantly higher recovery rates.
