What would happen if, in the winter of 1942, somewhere on Melbourne’s shadowy streets, the illustrative modern painter Albert Tucker was to meet the infamous Eddie Leonski? Who is Eddie Leonski, you may ask? Only the elusive Brown-Out Strangler, Australia’s first serial killer. Well, think no more as Black Swan Theatre Company proudly present Portraits of Modern Evil, a play which looks at the dark underbelly of a country not only at war but under invasion from American Allies too. Directed by Adam Mitchell, Portraits of Modern Evil appears at PICA from September 4 until September 20.
