Review | Feminem brings Adele to the Connections stage

Hello: An Evening with Feminem | Connections Nightclub | til Feb 3rd | ★ ★ ★ ½

The superstar local drag queen who was ripped from the bosom of the Domain Stadium’s 65,000 people strong crowd is back with an entertaining dip into the story of her rise as Perth’s very own Adele – but this is no story of an Adele copycat.

Feminem certainly looked the part of Adele, donning a custom made black shimmering sequinned gown. It was captivating to relive the story of Feminem’s rise to stardom following the incredible moment when she was invited up onto the stage with Adele in front of Perth’s largest concert arena performance.

The Adele songs such as Rolling in the Deep and Rumour Has It were performed with Adele’s signature groove and flair. Whilst Feminem certainly sung well, it goes without saying that when it comes down to singing, Adele can’t be impersonated. Feminem brings her own charm and talents into the mix which is desirable in every drag queen even when taking on the impersonation of a trailblazer but with the marketing of the show gearing towards Adele it would have been favourable to have seen Feminem perform a lot more Adele songs throughout her relatively short performance.

We got to delve into the personality of Feminem as much of the show was anecdotal but with a dress that expensive and wig to die for give us another 20 minutes and throw us some more of your favourite hits from this diva.

As always Connections Nightclub is the superb venue for drag, rock star and DJ sets and the temperature on stage may have been sizzling but the amenities of the club kept its patrons cool. The lighting arrangement was breathtaking, camp and glamorous. If the Adele costume wasn’t enough to marvel at the floodlights made Feminem look absolutely stunning.

This is truly an evening with Feminem and a spicy taste of her grand influencer that only one summer ago plucked her from a garden of lit lighters and took her to the world stage to take on the opportunities only someone as industrious as Feminem knows how to operate.

Hello: An Evening with Feminem has one more show at Connections Nightclub tonight. For tickets and more info head to fringeworld.com.au
