OUTinPerth Managing Editor Graeme Watson is a former General Manager of the station and regularly volunteers at the station.

This week he was a guest host of the Breakfast program and was joined in the studio by local drag identity Perri Oxide, and musicians ZĀN and The Brow, plus he chatted with Jebediah frontman Kevin Mitchell about his upcoming Bob Evans release.

Graeme was just one of several guest Breakfast presenters, on Tuesday former Breakfast host Peter Barr returned to the station for a special appearance and was joined by Premier Mark McGowan. The Radiothon period sees a cavalcade of local musicians, comedians and identities passing through the station and anything can happen.

“I’ve loved RTRFM for decades, as a listener, a staff member and as a presenter.” Graeme said of his enduring love for the sound alternative.

“We wouldn’t be able to do many of the wonderful things we do at OUTinPerth without the assistance of RTRFM. We hire out their studios to conduct some of our really big interviews, which allows our readers to hear the actual conversations we have with huge celebrities like Tina Arena, Taylor Dayne, Richard O’Brien and many Wentworth cast members.” Graeme said.

By becoming a subscriber to the station people allow the broadcaster to continue to be a space of community building, learning and sharing for over 250 volunteer presenters who share local stories, music and culture.

The station is home to weekly LGBTIQ program All Things Queer and has included queer programming on its airwaves for decades, many older members of the LGBTIQ community would remember classic shows like E.T.H.O.S, Sheer Queer and Quear.

The not-for-profit independent radio station only survives through the support of our listeners by way of subscriptions and donations. The money raised from our annual Radiothon makes up more than a third of RTRFM’s operating income and enables us to continue producing high-quality music and talks programming year-round.

The station will also be holding a Radiothon Closing Party this Saturday at The Bird and Ezra Pound, featuring Jamilla, Guy Contact, Elsewhere/ Rebecca, Bahasa Malay and a whole heap more of local musicians and DJs.

RTRFM’s dedicated team of phone room volunteers are on standby to take your subscriptions and donations throughout the Radiothon period just call 08 9260 9210, and listeners can also subscribe online at rtrfm.com.au.
