Which drag queen was in full slap, on her way to wherever it was she was going, and then chugger-chugger-bang! Her car dies on the side of an incredibly busy road. She lifts the lid… but quickly realises, what does she know about engines!?! So she tries, in vain, to flag someone down. But of course, she’s not one for a shy retiring look is she? So naturally no-one stops. After following suit with her car (read breaks down too) the poor dear has to ditch the heels and, walking like the lady she’s not, jump over the busy median strip to make it to even anywhere reasonably hospitable. Needless to say, it was a while before anyone came to rescue her. What a drag.
Allegra will be hitting the Connections stage on Saturday September 5 for a little touch of Pole Position. Yes, she’s Miss Pole Dancer 2008 and she’s sure to turn your world upside down. Be there to witness her defying gravity.
The Court Hotel and OUTinPerth join forces to present Tilted Couture, a night of fantastic fashion proportions. The night kicks off on Tuesday September 8 as part of the Perth Fashion Festival and promises to be a huge evening. Mandi Mac, Of Cabbages & Kings, Ruby Mariani, Garth Cook, Alister Yiap and a Ruth Tarvydas retrospective promise to deliver a night of fashion fantasies. There will be plenty of other entertainment too, including a Drag Couture competition where one fantastic designer can win themselves $500 hot cash – all you gotta do is make sure a drag queen models your fabulous creation. It promises to be a huge evening. Tickets are available now from The Court Hotel.
Then there’s this gossip. It’s from my work colleague, Dige. Actually, I rather think it is my work colleague Dige… anyway…whoever… was at Mint Bar on Friday, drank too much, made out with 2 boys on the dance floor, nearly got bashed for dirty dancing with his homo-queer friends and made a fabulous new, ahem, lady friend. Turns out lady friend was not unescorted… ‘You better watch your hands mate, that’s my fucking sister you’re dancing with,’ says Amateur Bouncer. ‘Oh please,’ slurs Dige, ‘You’re definitely more my type.’
In other news, this work colleague tells me that if anyone has a spare $10 000 he will… advise them to put a deposit on a house.
Those freaky kids from ZOO are back! They hit BarOpen on Friday September 11 with a whole heap of madness. There will be mayhem. They are apparently also doing something on the evening of Sunday September 27 which involves fair trading or some such, so be sure to get down and check it out.
New on the queer calendar this month is Flaunt. Leederville’s Niche has assembled a line up of the DJ’s to be caught following, with Johnni P, Rob Blandford, Jonny Zimber, Manda Power and Frankie Button. Launching on September 17, it does the trick of filling Thursday’s night’s empty niche.
In almost international news, which Perthonality went on a recent trip overseas, only to find out that they were on the deportation list? Why? A shady past for this keen gardener? Or was it because there were height restrictions in place… and those found to be undersize were thrown back in the water?
Shameless are getting ready to go intergalactic with their next big gay party, Abduction. Ah, mOther remembers the very first Abduction parties, the ones where people actually got abducted and Princess Mandy did that wonderful show… Does were the days. This Abduction party promises to be a huge night filled with anal probes and alien autopsies happening on Saturday September 19. Be there and get ready to be taken away.
Girls, girls, girls and then more girls. Then a cocktail or three and you’ve got yourself a decadent den of damsels demolishing a Thursday night at Luxe. Girls and Cocktails kicks off at 7 and runs til late on September 24.
It’s your birthday and I’ll cry if I want to… Which well known car magnate is turning 21 this month? OUTinPerth hopes that said car magnate enjoys the beachy celebrations and recovers in time to spill the beans for next month. The only story we can share this issue is that he was caught running around in a certain lord’s high heels, leaving us to ponder whether he’s considering a new glammyrous career… or just likes really expensive white high heels…
The Glammys, ah the Glammys. Awards were won (thanks!!), and the who’s who of the queer community turned out in force. Later that night…well…there was hurling, hurdling, hickeying and humping. Who’s who indeed?
Fairday kicks off on Sunday September 27 at Russell Square. There will be so much entertainment you won’t believe it. There are singers – Nat Ripepi, Kyle Dessent and Dean Misdale – and there will be drag queens – read Barbie Q – plus there will be DJs – including the likes of Seb Sharp and Johnni P plus others. The day runs from 11am with a late finish for the first time of 9pm. Entry $5 for Pride members and $10 for Pride members.
Sideshow is the Official Pride Fairday After-Party at Connections Nightclub and in true fashion it promises to be a night of fun. There will be plenty of glamour too when Glamourous opens that same night, starring the most amazing Giselle who will be joined by Val-Nourished and Sandy Beaches. Expect crazy mirrors, fire breathing and lots of face painting.
On the same night, The Court has live bands from 4pm and dinner specials all night long. It promises to be a rocking and a rollicking night, one filled with lots and lots of fun and Swish. So if you’ve had your fill of the park life (of either variety) this is the place to be and kick it up with glee.
In the meantime, email gossip to mother@www.outinperth.com.
Lovelovelove,
