Hello m’dears, mOther here!

Oh, I’m sorry… are you looking for gossip? Well, you’ve certainly come to the right place. Yes, there be gossip here. But first? The low down from around town.

The STYLEAID Photographic Exhibition sashays into The Turner Gallery on Friday, June 6. It’s a brief tease before the main event on Friday July 18 – yes, STYLEAID is coming folks (www.styleaid.com.au). How fabulous will you look?

The Court Hotel has released their new Winter menu and… oooooh, it sounds devilishly divine. Hot picks? ‘Bacon and red wine braised lamb with parmesan mashed potato with a puff pastry lid,’ purrs Court director Bree Maddox. ‘Oh, and triple chocolate brownie with warm chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. Soooooo good!’ Uh-huh, sure sounds it. Gee Bree, you can talk cookery to me anytime. Napkin please – mOther’s drooling!

Girls have got it going on early on a Saturday with some soulful soaring acoustic sounds in the form of Pink Corduroy. These lovely ladies combine the awesome, awe inspiring talents of soul diva Sherri, blues educator Kat and acoustic rocker Nat… as in Nat Ripepi! Yes, these girls put the she in she-bang with their explosive act every Saturday evening at The Court from 5pm out the back.

Still at The Court you can witness The Divas Drag show on Saturday June 7 at both 9pm and 1am. This bigger than big babe-fest hits with the combined might of Feminem and Val Uptuous, two hotter than hot femme fatales sure to make your night sizzle. They’ll be joined with guests and such. Get in to get off!

ZOO is still the place to be. With the wonderful tagline The freak shall inherit the Perth, this wonderful hideaway of the hideously fabulous is just that – a monstrous mash of magnificence, munt and magic. Happens every Sunday at 234 William Street with entry via the rear… naturally.

If you’re looking to nab yourself a nice flushed husband (or wife) then get your Anna Nicole Smith on and sashay your way into Sunset Coasters. Yes, this happens on Tuesday June 18 at 185 Restaurant, 185 St Georges Terrace at 6pm. The last one, which took place at C Restaurant, had a massive turnout. More are expected this time. Especially after mOther hawks it as the perfect place to pick up a husband!

Worth having a look is new bar Devilles Pad. Located at the east end of Aberdeen Street, this funky new hotspot is devilish fun and is described as ‘Satan goes to Las Vegas’. Oh, and how! From the volcano in the middle of the dance floor to The Sataniques go-go dancing, this venue takes cabaret and sells its soul for cocktail hour… all done in the most outrageous décor imaginable this side of Hell! From the guys who brought you Hula Bula Bar, check out Devilles Pad open Thursday to Saturday from 6pm. They’re so satanic they even have 666 in their phone number!

Death By Drag comes to a grinding ungracious… yet timely… death June 20th at Connections Nightclub when the winner is announced. But that’s not before a whole heap of wannabes die, die, die in the most fabulous fashion possible – live on stage! Yes, Survivor in full slap storms the stage with hostess Val Uptuous. This event brings together the gracious Miss Katherine and gorgeous Glamourpuss for a weekly 1am Friday night spectacle sure to split your sides. Who’s competing? Maybelline, Miss Vene-Mous, Varuka Salt, Angelina Holy Shit, Adele Waters, Carmen Inside-me, Ricki Slitt and others. mOther’s money is on Maybelline who seems to have a gorgeous look growing, even if the poor muppet did happen to bring the wrong spot number along. Stupid muppet! Mind you, they must all remember – it’s a drag comp, not a sea-horse soiree. Online video diaries at www.myspace.com/connectionsnightclub with the winner taking home $500 cash, a place in the new Supermodel show and next month’s Tea with Miss Katherine.

‘It’s not about tearing them down to titillate the crowd,’ added Miss Katherine in a recent conversation about Death By Drag. ‘It’s about cultivating and encouraging the next generation. Some have got a lot of talent, some have got a little – but they’ve all got potential.’ You should be a diplomat Miss K!

And Gillette… dear old Gillette! As if splitting your nose open while guest performing at Death By Drag wasn’t enough you then went on to… well, mOther knows what you did! It sounds like you stole the show once again!

And to The Krazy Krushgroove Kid who skipped work only to turn up in full slap to compete in Death By Drag instead – bad form Kevin. Tut, tut… bad, bad form Kevin! To be part of The Krazy’s is an honour, not a privilege!

July hits with a nice new little show at Connections. So You Think You Can Pole Dance does just as the name suggests – it shows a bunch of half drunk tools trying to look sexy once in a while. But the charm of gigs like these is that once in a while that little gem will come along and astound the crowd with just how they can pole dance. For this reason alone, mOther recommends watching this. Happens every second Wednesday, starting soon.

Now yip, bark, snarl at the moon. Yes, go… be little terriers… and remember – do what your mOther told ya!
