Netflix

Orange is the New Black: Everyone’s favourite queer-lady-centric prison comedy/drama is back for season three, and for the first time we can watch the whole thing at the same time as the US. The incredible ensemble cast featuring Laverne Cox, Laura Prepon and many more will be joined by none other than Australia’s own Ruby Rose. Praise be.

SBS

Tofu: This companion series of Russell T. Davies’ recent programs Cucumber and Banana (which run parallel to each other) features the casts of both aforementioned programs, adult performers and members of the British public sharing their tales, tips and two cents on sex and relationships in the modern era.

Orphan Black: Tatiana Maslany stars first as Sarah Manning, who aims to reunite with her young daughter and inadvertently discovers she is one of a number of clones. Then she stars as all the clones. There are a number of queer characters in this series, and it’s worth checking out for the acting alone. Season 3 is currently airing on SBS On Demand but be sure to catch it week by week before it expires.

Queer Cinema: SBS On Demand has 600 titles in its range of feature length films, with a section entirely devoted to queer cinema. There are titles from all around the world on offer, including France’s ‘Tomboy’, UK cult classic ‘Velvet Goldmine’ and many more.

ABC iView

Forbidden Love: This documentary series explores a number of societal taboos surrounding sex and relationships, including polyamory, sexuality and gender identity. The first episode will be available on ABC iview from Friday June 5th and tells the story of a transgender couple who are getting married.

Portlandia: ‘Saturday Night Live’ alumnus Fred Armisen unites with queer icon and Sleater Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein to play a host of weird and wonderful characters that live in Portland, Oregon. Meet Toni and Candace of feminist bookstore Women & Women First, bohemian couple Peter and Nance and many more. Season five is being aired on iView.
