Daniel Ashley Pierce from Georgia, USA was kicked out of his home after telling his family he was gay.

Pierce came out to his family in October, but according to the Huffington Post, they staged a “delayed intervention” saying they would no longer allow him to live with them due to his sexuality.

He filmed part of this conversation and posted it on his Facebook page. The confronting video, which was later posted on Reddit and YouTube, showed footage of his parents stating that they would no longer support him due to his “choice”, and has gained over 1, 500 000 views.

A GoFundMe account was set up to raise living expenses for Pierce, reportedly by his boyfriend. The target was $2,000, but the campaign has so far raised over $45,000 in one day from over 1,700 people.

“Oh My you guys! I am in tears! I didn’t realize that this was even set up for me! I am so thankful for all the comments, support and donations! I don’t even know how to thank y’all! I wish I could give each and everyone of you a huge hug! I was trying to respond to everyone but I couldn’t keep up!! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! This is all just so amazing!!” he wrote on his GoFundMe page.

Daniel Pierce’s GoFundMe page can be found here. You can watch his coming out video below. Trigger warning: Strong language and domestic violence.
