Spanish Sensation

For some seriously summery beats, Spain’s zany pop maestro El Guincho is dropping by Perth during December for a one-off show at the Bakery. El Guincho’s world-beat tunes are melodic and resonate with a mixture of genres spanning the 70s, 80s and 90s. The Barcelona-based Spanish sensation has just released his latest record, Negro Pop for which he researched rigorously to produce. Negro Pop is his second album, riddled with steel drums and psychadelic rhythms as well as the zest of the carribean.

El Guincho aka Pablo Diaz-Reixa will be performing tracks from his entire catalogue with shows lined up around the country including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. This isn’t the first time Diaz-Reixa has performed in Australia, previously appearing as part of the Laneway Festival and with Architecture in Helsinki. He has been likened to Animal Collective and Panda Bear with his mesmerising tropical sounds. Local acts smRts, Naik and DJ Rex Monsoon will be supporting the Spaniard as he delights crowds with his sonic masterpieces that he had dubbed ‘space age exotica’.

Catch El Guincho down at the Bakery, 233 James St Northbridge on Friday December 17. Doors open 8pm and tickets available at www.nowbaking.com.au, 78 Records, Planet and Mills Records.
