SSDAG Without Ongoing Funding

SSDAG (Same Sex Domestic Abuse Group) were recently not successful in their application for a Proceeds of Crime grant, leaving them without a paid staff members and no ongoing funding source. President Mark Ravenscroft says the organization still has enough funds to continue for at least six months and is in the process of applying for other grants. ‘The domestic abuse issue (in the GLBTIQ community) is huge and it is important to bring understanding to the broader community because nobody else is doing it,’ he said. Mr Ravenscroft said the SSDAG would like to use the money from a grant to conduct research into same sex domestic abuse, fund community education programs, forums and look into the possibility of running some courses.
