A Rabbi has won Sweden’s ‘Straight Man of the Year’ Award. The Times of Israel reported that Rabbi David Lazar won the accolade, his second award recognising his work in the gay and lesbian community. Lazar, the rabbi for Stockholm’s Jewish community was recognised by Swedish LGBTI magazine QX. He also received the Yakir Hakehila award from Tel Aviv’s gay and lesbian community. In a television interview, Lazar said: ‘For me, it’s a matter of human rights. Every human being was created in the image of God… we see God in each other… Nobody is abnormal; everybody is part of normality.’
