The Aces Have It At The Pink Sofa Cup

This year’s Pink Sofa Cup was held in Melbourne with around 50 Lesbians, of all levels of ability participating in the friendly event which focuses on creating a healthy, fun and social environment for Lesbians.

The girls from the west teamed with the girls from NSW to take on the Ace Girls from Victoria, with the home side being intent on taking the trophy from WA. The afternoon had everything with aces, smashes and those winning brilliant shots that didn’t go anywhere near where they were planned, to hard fought marathon matches – well done to Sonya from WA who played a 3 hour singles match to 3 sets then backed it up with a 3 hour doubles match to 3 sets, winning both. Talk about getting the most out of the day.

In the end the final result didn’t reflect just how close the matches were, with the Ace Girls being clear winners. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who participated, all matches were played with plenty of laughs and ouches (for those of us who hadn’t picked up a racquet in ages, but hey it was worth it) and didn’t those beers taste good at the end!

The 2010 Pink Sofa Cup will be held in Sydney and will expand to incorporate golf and tennis over two days. For details contact Michelle on riggm@iinet.net.au or
