Track listing for Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star is Born’ revealed

The track listing for the soundtrack to Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s upcoming film A Star is Born has been revealed, it’s a mix of new tunes written by Gaga, some classic songs and excerpts of dialogue from the film.

Yesterday Gaga spoke to the Los Angeles Times about the process of auditioning and filming her first leading role. Since having its debut at the Venice Film Festival the movie has been getting rave reviews.

Alongside new music written by Gaga, she also performs Edith Piaf’s La Vie En Rose. Many of the new songs were written in collaboration with country music singer Lukas Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson, who also appears in the film. There’s writing also contributions from Mark Ronson and Diane Warren.

The story has been brought to the screen several times. The original movie, made in 1937 by director William A. Wellman. The first version of was a drama starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March was about an aspiring movie star who is helped by a more experienced actor whose career is fading.

In 1954 the film was remade with Judy Garland and James Mason in the starring roles, now a musical it contained one of Garland’s biggest hits The Man That Got Away.

A third version was made in 1976 and starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristopherson. In this version the two lead characters are singer-songwriters. The film was Best Picture – Musical or Comedy at The Golden Globes, and picked up an Oscar for Steisand’s hit song Evergreen.

The new version is Cooper’s directorial debut, he’s play the male lead alongside Lady Gaga who’ll be making taking on her first leading role in a film.

The film will be out in October and many are wondering if Lady Gaga could be picking up some Oscars for the films music and her acting performance.
