Chyna Gibson, who also performed as Chyna Doll Dupree, was reportedly shot multiple times outside the Bella Plaza mall at around 8:30pm.

Gibson’s niece told media that she was a “very loving person” and “she didn’t do nothing to nobody.”

Tributes are flowing for Gibson on social media, from fellow performers, trans people and friends and allies throughout the community.

RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Trinity K Bonet, who was a friend of Gibson, has joined in the homage to the entertainer on Instagram.

Ms Gibson is believed to be the fifth transgender woman who has been murdered in the US this year, following the death of Keke Collier in Chicago on Tuesday.
