WA police officer resigns after allegations of sexual assault

Western Australian Police have announced they investigated their own officers following a wild party that resulted in allegations one male officer had sexually assaulted another.

During the investigation, another officer came forward to admit to a separate incident at the same party that investigators were previously unaware of.

One officer was accused of digitally penetrating a male colleague with whom he was having consensual oral sex. The complainant said the oral sex was consensual, but alleged his colleague went further than he had consented to.

He later discussed the incident with his wife and reported it. That report triggered an investigation into the encounter between the two junior officers, and an email was sent to all staff at the station informing them of the investigation and noting that the bar where the event was held had extensive CCTV coverage.

That email prompted another officer to come forward and confess to a different incident, which he believed was the subject of the investigation. He admitted he had pressed his penis against beer mugs that colleagues had been drinking from, a confession that blindsided investigators who had been unaware of the second incident.

The outcome of the investigation was reported by The West Australian. A police spokesperson said the investigation has now concluded.

“The Western Australia Police Force conducted both criminal and managerial investigations in relation to a social gathering involving officers from Perth Police Station at licensed premises on 14 July 2025,” a police spokesperson said.

“The criminal investigation was completed, with no criminal charges preferred. The internal investigation has now concluded. Two officers received managerial notice sanctions, and one officer resigned prior to the application of any managerial sanction.

“The matter is considered closed,” they said.
