Davis, the Principal Trombone of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and will step up as soloist for the world premiere.

Trombone Concerto is a new work written by award-winning Australian composer Paul Stanhope. The Sydney based composer is recognised as a leading figure among his generation of composers, his work has had many prominent performances around the globe.

Alongside the new work the West Australian Symphony Orchestra will also perform Schumann’s Fourth, and final, symphony.

Principal Conductor Asher Fisch will conduct the concert. Having explored the previous three symphonies with WASO over the past five years, Schumann’s compact and powerful masterpiece will be a thrilling finale.

To open the concert, Asher has selected Szymanowski’s Concert Overture, a lush, radiant and positively Straussian work in its orchestration and soaring melodies. This Overture is especially significant for Asher; it was the first piece he ever conducted with the Berlin Philharmonic, back in 2009.

The performances will be on Fri 17 & Sat 18 November from 7.30pm at the Perth Concert Hall. Tickets to the concerts are now on sale from waso.com.au
